Privacy Policy

Effective: 2026-07-11. Operated by Lyewise LLC, a Colorado limited liability company (formed 2026), United States.

This policy explains what information Lyewise collects, why, and the choices you have. We keep this short because we collect very little: the calculator runs in your browser, and we only store what we need to run your account.

1. Information we collect

Account: your email address and a securely hashed password. We never store your password in readable form.
Your content: recipes, notes, and any photos you choose to save are synced to your account so you can access them across devices.
Payment: your $1/year subscription is processed by Stripe. Stripe handles your card details — we never see or store your full card number. We keep a subscription status and a Stripe customer reference.
Technical data: standard server logs (e.g. IP address, browser type, timestamps) used for security and to keep the service running.

2. Why we use it (and our legal bases)

We use your information to provide and secure the service, sync your recipes, process your subscription, and answer support requests. Where the GDPR applies, our legal bases are performance of our contract with you (running your account), our legitimate interests (security, preventing abuse), and consent where required.

3. We do not sell your data

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising. We do not share it except with the service providers below, or where required by law.

4. Service providers

We rely on a few trusted providers who process data only to run Lyewise: Stripe (payments), our hosting provider (to run the app), and an email provider (to send transactional messages such as password resets). These providers, and Lyewise itself, are based in or process data in the United States; if you use Lyewise from outside the U.S., your information may be transferred to and processed there.

5. Cookies & local storage

We use a single sign-in session cookie so you stay logged in. The app also uses your browser's local storage to keep a cache of your recipes and your language preference on your device. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your account information and content for as long as your account is active. If you cancel and ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal data except where we must keep limited records (for example, tax or payment records) by law.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the EU/UK GDPR and California's CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, to withdraw consent, and to opt out of any sale of personal information (we do not sell it). To exercise any of these, email us and we will respond within the time required by law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

8. Security

We protect your data with hashed passwords, encrypted connections (HTTPS), and reputable infrastructure providers. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe and to limit what we collect in the first place.

9. Children

Because soap making involves caustic chemicals, Lyewise is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

10. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date at the top of this page.
